Hot Chinese Mustard Powder


Ingredients: hot Chinese mustard powder

Spicy, pungent, and strong, hot Chinese mustard powder can be rehydrated to use as a fiery condiment, or used in powdered form to add a kick to your dry rubs, potato dishes, chili's, soups, and stews.

To rehydrate, mix 8 parts powder to 7 parts liquid. Store at room temperature until desired heat level is reached (2-8 weeks), then refrigerate. The longer you wait, the milder the mustard will be. Water is typically used to rehydrate the mustard powder. If you would like your mustard to have more tartness, you can also add vinegar, but note that vinegar will mellow out the flavor.
