Cream of Tartar


Ingredients: Cream of tartar

A common leavening agent in baking, Cream of Tartar is well known for adding a lift to meringues, whipped cream, snickerdoodles, and angel food cake.

For smooth homemade caramel or candies, add a pinch to boiling sugar to prevent sugar crystals from forming. You can also add 1/2 tsp to cold water before boiling or steaming vegetables to help retain their vibrant color that is often lost in the cooking process.
