Allspice, Ground Jamaican

Ingredients: allspice (Jamaica)

Allspice is a warm aromatic spice, made from the dried berries of the Pimenta dioica tree. It is said to taste like a combination of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and is commonly found in recipes for apple pie, jerk chicken, and Swedish meatballs.

Add ground allspice to your apple or pumpkin pie recipes, gingerbread, or to add warmth to dark chocolate deserts. Try on roasted parsnips or butternut squash, or add to marinades, rubs, meatballs, and stews.

One tsp. of ground allspice equal approximately five whole allspice berries.
